Our latest innovation: The Modqap

For over a year, we’ve been working on a web product for musicians, artists and everyone called “The Modqap”. When faced with the challenge of promoting our own artists, we knew we needed a launchpad to send bookers, managers and labels that encapsulated all facets of an artist’s brand and vision. We also knew that we wanted it to be available in a mobile platform. At first glance, the modqap may not seem like anything new. When looking at the desktop version, one may say, “Hey It looks like Myspace” or “What! This looks soooo 2004!” Here’s why it is different and why it will help shape the future of discovering new music and artist promotion:

1. Modqap.com allows musicians and artists for the first time, to build an aesthetically pleasing mobile site that is highly functional.
2. Unlike Myspace, Modqap is easy to edit, there are no ads and the player is an integrated Soundcloud player which is sonically more pleasing than Myspace’s streaming player.
3. You can find all of an artists links in one fell swoop: Youtube, facebook, bandcamp, itunes, sonicbids, lastfm etc. instead of having to google an artist and find all of their pages through searches.
4. Unlike Soundclouds partner, Onesheet.com, the Modqap is attractive in a mobile setting.
5. Modqap pulls in all of your band’s important and relevant facebook info, including your calendar and status updates, so you never have to update it.
6. Modqap allows users to play your music and check your calendar in a mobile setting, Facebook does not.
7. Modqap allows you to customize colors and fonts to help shape your brand, Facebook does not.
8.Modqap never opens a new window in a mobile setting, it uses collapsable tabs that keep you on the same page.
9. Modqap is fast. Loadtimes are comparable to major sites like Facebook and Soundcloud
10. Many mobile sites for musicians don’t translate onto a desktop platform. Modqap looks just as pretty on your computer as it does on your phone.

While the first version of Modqap is nice, there are upcoming features may make it more of a music tech competitor.. We can’t tell you about em just yet, but they should be available by February!  Stay tuned! Go build a profile @ www.modqap.com. Zoë Wick Signs with Madqap

Madqap Management has signed local singer/songwriter Zoë Wick to an artist management contract. Madqap stumbled upon Wick while looking for a female singer to round out CLUCKS‘ new album. “Zoë came in and not only added her signature vocal stylings to the mix, but proved herself to be a gifted songwriter and reliable contributor in the process. After recording a few of her songs it was clear to us that she possessed a unique talent for writing, production and collaboration,” explains CLUCKS producer D. Goyenechea.

Sometimes compared to Adele, Florence and the Machine or Jewel, Zoë draws from soul and folk, among other genres. She began writing songs as a young child and spent much of her youth performing classical music both solo and as part of orchestras. All the while, she was writing lyrics and listening to soul and R&B as well as to alternative rock bands like the Pixies and the Dandy Warhols. Finally at 19 years old, Zoë picked up guitar so that she could share the music she truly wanted to play: her own songs. Her well-crafted lyrics point to decades of songwriting experience while retaining the honesty and vulnerability of diary entries and her soulful voice carries listeners back to the 1920s.

The songwriter is enthusiastic about the agreement. “Madqap is a young organization full of energy and drive, and I couldn’t be happier to be forming a partnership with them. Creating music, my greatest love, was something that I kept mostly private up until last year. I feel very fortunate to have a team of people who believe in my music and who want to help me reach a larger audience. I can’t wait to see what the new year brings.”

Madqap is currently working on her EP, slated for release in February 2012. Check out Zoë’s website and social pages here:
